The Spice of Life Column

YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK

Martial Arts

I don't think anybody would argue that some of history's greatest thinkers have taught us that there is a "life force" in all things. Call it what you will; God, energy, breath, divine spark, soul, spirit. It doesn't really matter what you call it. The fact is, it exists. Tesla, Da Vinci, Einstein, Rife, they all spoke of energy and how it relates to matter within the material universe.

For me, science is not about discovering things. It's really about "uncovering" things. If you think about it, the answers are already here, waiting for us to find them. And what we've come to learn in science is that there isn't anything within our universe that is not made up of some sort of energy. This article, at times, may sound a little esoteric, but try to keep an open mind. Technology advances, we advance.

We have all heard of kinetic and potential energy. Kinetic energy is energy of motion. Potential energy is known as stored energy. What is important to understand is that energy is energy, and whether it's in motion or just waiting to be used, it's still a force that exists and man did not make it. So, who or what did? Where does this cosmic Edison Company reside and who is its CEO? I have a knowing, but science and others might disagree. I do know undisputedly, however, that there is so much about our universe we do not know. I also know that with powerful microscopes we can see the atoms of solid objects, yet what actually powers those atoms and what orchestrates their unique arrangement within our universe is beyond our current comprehension. I guess a good analogy would be that you can stare at the individual puzzle pieces of a jigsaw puzzle laying on a tabletop, but until they are assembled in the right order to make a picture, they are still just pieces of the puzzle. Such is the mystery of life as we know it.

We have known for some time that all matter, even thoughts, have vibrational frequencies. Some high, some low. Therefore, it would only stand to reason that the higher the vibrational frequency, the more Divine its nature. It was Dr Royal Raymond Rife during the 1920's who was able to build a microscope that weighed nearly 200 lbs and had over 5,682 parts. Dr Rife was amazed when he saw how bacteria mutated into vibrating purple viruses smaller than 300/1000's of a micron. It was clear to him that all cells vibrate, and after discovering the frequency rate of cancer and other diseases, Dr Rife invented what he called his Rife Frequency Machine. He was able to tune up his invention to a frequency that would literally shatter diseased cells like glass without causing harm to surrounding tissues. Rife was a genius. He was definitely on to something. But unfortunately, he was viciously squelched by Dr Morris Fishbein, the then president of the AMA. Frequency machines can still be bought today, but they are considered illegal in the United States. If you would like to learn more about Rife, there is a plethora of information available to you on the internet.

Even way back in history, without the aid of microscopes, man intuitively knew that energy could be measured. Take Kinesiology for instance. The history of this science goes back to its definitional beginnings. Kinesiology is a combination of the Greek word "kinein" (to move) and "logos" (discourse). Aristotle was known as the Father of Kinesiolgy. It's long history spans the lives of Archimedes (287-212 BC), Galen (131-201 AD, deemed "the father of sports medicine"), Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo, Newton, on up to Dr George Goodhart, DC, who brought into our language Applied Kinesiology in 1964. It is primarily a functional diagnostic method for determining one's health status through muscle testing. Goodhart discovered that certain muscles, when weak, correlated with stress in specific organs and acupuncture meridians. By treating points related to those muscles he found that he could strengthen not only the muscle, but also the organ related to that muscle. According to Dr David R Hawkins in his wonderful book called Power vs. Force, "Kinesiology is the wormhole between two universes - the physical and the spirit - an interface between two dimensions."

It is so clear to me that we are made up of energized cells that require the right kind of energy to survive. I speak here specifically of the foods that we eat and how they are prepared. If you are ingesting foods that are denatured, irradiated, micro-waved, and riddled with chemicals, I would say that you're destined for health problems. As humans, we tend to eat with our emotions and not our intellect. Understanding the need for life to feed life would possibly change one's choice of eating a fried cheeseburger, French fries and pickles, to perhaps choosing organic fresh vegetables, whole grains, fresh fruits, nuts, seeds, and clean proteins.

I know by now some of you are probably saying, "Williams... Get a reality check!" Well, for those of you that feel that way, I can't really be of much help to you. However, for those of you who sense that there is some truth in what I'm saying, please read on. Remember, when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

A wonderful read, if you can find it (I know it took me forever), is an out-of-print book by Harry Oldfield and Roger Coghill entitled The Dark Side of the Brain. These two guys reveal the electroluminescent fields that surround living organisms. They discuss through their use of Kirlian photography the bioelectric effect of live foods on the health of human beings. I was fascinated. I recall a picture of a person who had been eating junk food for 24 hours, devoid of any electroluminescent energy. Next to it, they showed a dramatic picture of another man. This guy had been eating whole foods for over forty years and was lit up like the Las Vegas strip! Other photographs showed the energy present in raw versus cooked cabbage. The difference was staggering.

No words spoken, have you ever just felt a stranger's energy and determined whether you liked it or not? Of course you have. We coined a phrase during the 70's that actually referred to energy. When we said that we got a "bad vibe" from somebody, what we were really saying is that we didn't feel comfortable around that person. I know for me, it didn't matter whether he or she was rich or good looking. What really mattered was that the person made me feel uncomfortable. But how did I make that determination if I had never met them before? Well, it's all about frequencies, all about energy! When you feel out of place somewhere, it's because your vibrational rate is moving out of sync with the experience around you.

As I said earlier, low or negative vibrational frequencies are the furthest away from the Divine. In addition to the physical body that we perceive with our senses, we have other energetic layers called spirit. Hindus call it Divine Mother. Christians calls it the Holy Spirit. And in many New Age spiritual teachings, it is simply called Cosmic Energy. I've even learned a new term for it by reading Dr Gabriel Cousen's book Conscious Eating which discusses quantum physics and its reference to Zero-Point Energy. This is the faster-than-the-speed-of-light energy that fills the cosmos and is the potential of all existence and the intelligence to create perfect form. When Zero-Point Energy is condensed into what is known as Tachyon Energy, it causes a continuous energy flow called the "Energetic Continuum." From there, Subtle Organizing Energy Fields (SOEF's) which move just-slower-than-the-speed-of-light organize the energy and begin creating the energetic matrix from which all physical forms are created. In other words, the Energetic Continuum flows from infinite formless expansion, what I call the "Higher Source," to a finite contraction of form. Tachyon energy contains the essence of all frequencies.

Since our true essence is energy, we need to understand that even our thoughts are made up of vibrational frequencies. High vibrating frequencies encompass love, compassion, understanding, good health, willingness and acceptance. Low vibrating frequencies encompass the negative thoughts of shame, greed, hate, despair, guilt, and worst of all, fear. Therefore, we are capable of creating high/happy thoughts or low/sad thoughts. It's all up to us. The operative word here is "creating." The fact that the "Higher Source" energy gets funneled down at the Zero-Point where it then goes into Tachyon energy and then manifests into matter, makes it a Creator. Thus, we become "co-creators" capable of manifesting our own lives. Through the power of thought, we humans can creatively visualize what we want, vibrate at the right frequency and set our lives in the direction we desire.

Now, the tricky thing is that we have a tendency to think low vibrating thoughts. We are loaded with negative thoughts. As Marianne Williamson says in her book, Return to Love, we are all born out of love and the first thing we learn is fear. It's interesting to me that so many people are more afraid of life than they are of death. All these thoughts vibrate at very low frequencies, and as we project them outward, they become our collective, creative hells. Because your thoughts are made up of energy, like a magnet, they will attract other low frequencies. And remember, diseases, ill-health, and chaos all live at low frequency levels. Is this what we want to create for ourselves, our loved ones, our world?

Collective thoughts or collective consciousness and the power of prayer are built on this premise. As Einstein knew, if your thoughts are made up of energy, then like-energy will be attracted to it, clump together, and if enough thoughts are projected with the same kind of energy, it is possible for thought to manifest into a physical form. Shakti Gawain is famous for her book, Creative Visualization: Use the Power of Your Imagination to Create What You Want in Your Life. But as powerful as our thoughts can be in creating good things, they are equally as powerful in creating bad things. And as typical human beings, we tend to think negative thoughts over and over again until our output of energy actually makes what we fear come true.

As Dr Goodhart created Applied Kinesiology in being able to observe strong or weakened muscles in connection with vital organs and their response to chemicals, good or bad, it was Dr John Diamond in the late 70's who helped create a new discipline called Behavioral Kinesiology. He understood that muscles would strengthen or weaken in the presence of positive or negative emotions. There is an interesting Kinesiology test I perform that always works for me. First try it on someone else so that you can teach them how to do it to you. It's really basic muscle testing. The technique is simple. Just have a person stand erect. Ask them to raise one of their arms parallel to the floor, keeping their elbow straight. You can use whichever arm feels comfortable to you. Now, stand next to that person, placing one of your hands on the shoulder of their extended arm. Place your other hand on the extended arm itself, just above the wrist. Start by stating that their correct name is "_______________." Then try to push their arm down. Push firmly, but not forcefully, for about 3 seconds. This is not about strength, but rather energy of the body responding to whatever is placed within its energy field, in this case a correct thought. Because this statement is true, the person will be able to put resistance against your pushing. Now falsely state that the same person's name is Bugs Bunny. Watch how weak he or she becomes!

This test can also be done with products such as food, water, supplements, chemicals, etc. Place pure water in a person's hand. Have that person hold it against their heart/solar plexus. When you push on their extended arm, their response will probably be strong because all people need water. Next, place a package of NutraSweet/Equal/Aspartame against them and try the test again. 100% of the time, you will see the person being tested go weak immediately. Imagine how many people put these chemicals into their bodies without knowing how powerless they make a person. Even more curiously, ask the person to think wonderful, beautiful thoughts and watch how strong they become. Now, ask him or her to think shameful, ugly thoughts. Conversely, their arm will go weak. This is such a wonderful way of see just how powerful the human mind is.

So, how can you help yourself by using this tool? Well, first of all, when you find yourself thinking negative thoughts, try to have on hand what I call a mental album of beautiful thoughts. This I learned from a series of Abraham (Jerry & Ester) Hicks tapes. It is a Virtual Reality wherein you have stored beautiful, fun scenes in your head that you can pull up at any time to bring you up to a higher vibrational frequency. Make sure you have at least five scenes ready at any given moment. For me, I see things like my little boy's face for the first time when my midwife placed him on my chest; laying on a sandy beach sipping non-alcoholic pina coladas; snow skiing down a mountain of fresh-packed powder; standing on stage performing at my first Star Trek Convention; my gorgeous husband being the best father any kid could have.

Get the picture? You see, it's so simple, yet so very difficult for us human beings to find love, happiness and joy. We love to make things complicated. As you learn more about your own personal power, you'll see that all things are possible when you think they are. You will learn the difference between using power and force. Dr Wayne Dyer in Spiritual Solutions For Every Problem tells a story about two runners that were trying to qualify for the Olympic track team. One runner, he said, focused only on trying to beat his opponent. The other runner focused only on his love for running. Guess who won? The latter athlete was using his power, not his force. There's a difference.

Another example happened at the 2002 Winter Olympics with Sarah Hughes. She captured the moment with her confidence, her calmness, her joy. All high-vibrating thoughts. She had no guarantees of winning, only her pure love for the sport. She took the gold and the rest is history. In her own words, it was a magical night. "I was very confident. I couldn't have felt any better at that moment and I knew it. I wanted the feeling to take me through and when I got on the ice, the audience went wild, and I hadn't even done anything yet." And why? Because the spectators felt Sarah's vibrational frequency. Everyone wanted to take the same ride she was going on. Like a magnet, Sarah attracted higher vibrations and could do no wrong! She was in her JOY, one of the highest vibrational frequencies there is besides love.

Remember, you are what you eat and you are what you think. So, start using your thoughts to help create success in your spiritual growth, your love life, your business, your diet, fitness program, whatever. Live life. Don't let life live you. Continue to shed the conditioned you and you will begin to find the real you underneath.
